Bible Cross Reference

This visualization started as a collaboration between Pastor Christoph Römhild and Computer Science Professor, graphic artist, Pennsylvania – Chris Harrison in 2007.
Pastor Chris Romhild compiled a dataset of Bible cross references found in scripture.
• 63,799 Cross-references linking: locations, people, prophecies, scripture etc. found in different parts of the Bible.
• The result was something more beautiful than functional (Revealing the complexity and intentionality and unity of the Bible.)
• Over 40 human authors & 1 Divine Author (Dual Authorship) – Spanning over 1600 years – One central theme and message.
• This graphic visualization reveals/amplifies the complexity and unity of the Bible at every level
How to View the Diagram:
• The bar chart that runs along the bottom represents all of the chapters in the Bible, (starting with Genesis 1 on the left – to Revelation on right.)
• Bible Books alternate in color between light and dark gray
• The First books in Old and New Testaments in WHITE.
• The length of each bar denotes the number of verses in that chapter (for instance, the longest bar is the longest chapter in the Bible, Psalm 119).
• Each of the 63,779 cross references found in the Bible are depicted by a single arc – the color corresponds to the distance between the two chapters, creating a rainbow-like effect. (To purchase high resolution copy – visit Chris Harrison's Website.)
